Accessibility Statement

Tillie's Safe Haven is committed to making our website usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe a haven for animals should welcome every person who wants to help, and that starts with a site anyone can navigate.

Our standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive differences.

What we’ve done

Across this site we have worked to:

  • Use semantic HTML with clear headings, landmarks, and reading order.
  • Provide descriptive alternative text for images.
  • Support full keyboard navigation, with a “skip to content” link and visible focus outlines.
  • Label every button, link, and form field, with clear, accessible error messages.
  • Meet WCAG AA color-contrast ratios for text and interactive elements.
  • Respect the “reduce motion” setting for animations.
  • Build responsively so the site works on phones, tablets, and desktops.

Known limitations

Some content is provided by third parties, like our GoFundMe donation page and our Facebook page. We do not control the accessibility of those external services. If you have trouble using them, please reach out and we will help you take the action another way.

Tell us if something isn’t working

We treat accessibility as ongoing, not finished. If you encounter any barrier on this site, or need information in a different format, please contact us at tillies.safehaven@gmail.com. Tell us the page and what happened, and we will do our best to fix it promptly and help you directly in the meantime.
